This year’s First Steps in Filmmaking workshop will focus on ‘Film Waves – Creating Comfort or Discomfort by Sound’. During the course of three days, the participants – children age 7 to 10 – will be listening to the sounds surrounding us and make records of what they hear. They will consider the role of sound in a film which sparks different emotions: soothes, scares, disturbs, provokes a feeling of hate or sympathy. The participants will create their own ‘sound characters’ and use them to tell a story.
