Ana Alexieva holds a BA and a MA degree in Media, Social and Gender Studies from the Ruhr University in Bochum, Germany, and a MA degree in New Media and Digital Culture from the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands. Ana is a fellow of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. In 2008 she interned at Radio Deutsche Welle in Bonn, Germany. Between 2008 and 2010 Ana was program assistant at the International Women’s Film Festival Dortmund/Cologne and Documentary Filmweek in Duisburg, as well as a programmer for the International Videofestival Bochum. Ana has experience as freelance journalist for several online and print magazines.
Ana joined AGITPROP as a junior producer in 2011 under the mentorship of renowned Bulgarian producer Martichka Bozhilova. AGITPROP is one of the most successful Bulgarian production companies, well established on the European film market. In 2012 Ana graduated in documentary production from EURODOC and in 2013 from the EAVE European Producers workshop. She is also project manager of Balkan Documentary Center, a unique organization launched by AGITPROP, designed for strengthening the documentary scene on the Balkans.
