Documentary film "Labin Republic: the reality behind the legend" explores the foundations and the echo of the first organized anti-fascist resistance in the world, known as the Labin Republic. The first part of the film, through conversations with experts and archival material, describes the course of the uprising of the Labin miners in 1921, while the second part focuses on its repercussions. The social aspect of the rebellion has fallen into the background over the years, in an effort by politicians to emphasize its ideological components. The multiculturalism, unity and advanced ideas of the miners from 1921 are rediscovered by their descendants and are also visible in the expressions of local artists and the work of cultural workers who still proudly carry on the memory of the Labin Republic.
