Ana Magaš is a young woman who was sentenced to eight years in prison for the killing of her husband Lucijan, which she claimed was in self-defense. After serving three years, she was pardoned by the President of the Republic, Stjepan Mesić.
When she returned to her hometown of Zadar, Ana realized that the fight for her rights and a “normal life” was only just beginning.
She understands that expecting to live with her son is likely too much. Even if social workers were to appoint her as his guardian, the child doesn’t want to see her. After her release, a new life begins — a battle for her son, finding a home, finding a job, facing the reality of “freedom,” and confronting new expectations.
