In Croatia, football has never been just football, especially after the Croatian national team won the third place at the World Cup 1998 in France. Since then, under the motto of „bread and games“, football matches and the matches of other top teams are being used to divert attention from the difficult economic situation, to get everyday-politics points, to create the illusion of a strong nation and to redirect public money into private pockets. In this way, sport is being taken away from fans, recreationists, amateurs and all those who ask for purity in sport...
Arsen Oremović
Born in 1966, he graduated in film and TV directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art. He worked for twenty-five years as a journalist and film critic at Večernji list. He made his directorial debut in 2013 with the documentary "Married to a Swiss", which won the Human Rights Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Grand Prix at the Vukovar Film Festival. This was followed by the documentaries "Crash in the Castle" (2014, International Music Award USA), "Just the Way It Is" (2017), and the feature-length documentary "Third World" (2025).
In 2022, he directed the feature film "The Head of a Big Fish" (Golden Arena in Pula for Best Actress, Golden Orion for Best Actor). He is also the author of several notable documentary series: "The Accident" (three seasons), "CAF: The Beginning" (2023), and "Classical Music for Every Day "(2024).
