ABOUT THE MOVIE

On the sun-struck hill above Dubrovnik’s polished tourist façade, Sandra tends to a parallel city: one made of fur and scars. The shelter is not just a refuge; it is an organism where the human and the animal blur. This is not merely a portrait of one woman and her dogs, but of the unseen architectures of devotion, exhaustion, and the strange tenderness that persists when the world turns away.

Karla Crnčević

Karla Crnčević is a filmmaker and dramaturgue whose practice is situated at the intersection of cinema, archives, and spaces of memory. She graduated in Film Dramaturgy from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and completed a master’s degree in Creation at Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola in San Sebastián, where she deepened her interest in the history, materiality, and drifting trajectories of moving images. She works across cinema, research, and curating, and is one of the founders and programmers of KINO UNSEEN, a platform dedicated to rethinking film circulation, cultural policies, and the reactivation of cinema spaces as places of encounter. Her work moves between documentary and experimental forms, often through collaborative and process-based approaches. At the heart of her practice lies an exploration of memory as a speculative field: how personal and collective histories shape images, landscapes, and social relations in the present.
