ABOUT THE MOVIE
The story of the privatization of the Zagreb Tobacco Factory, the relocation of production to Istria, and the occupation of the Zagreb plant organized by the workers in 2006, is a rare example of an attempt at direct worker resistance to privatization — a process that largely impoverished the working class, once the flagship of the former state. With a four-year distance in time, this film archives a fragment of Croatia’s transition, for remembrance and lasting memory of the destinies of around forty individuals for whom the fight against the untouchable economic-political elite was the only acceptable option.
