ABOUT THE MOVIE
The former Austro-Hungarian grammar school building was hastily converted into a museum to house the collection of the controversial collector Ante Topić Mimara. The nickname "Zagreb’s Louvre," as it was affectionately called, best reflects the hopes invested in the project. Today, Zagreb’s Louvre stands empty, with visitors few and far between, but accompanying commercial events—fashion shows, art auctions, book promotions, and gatherings of regional clubs—are well attended. The classical architecture of the Austro-Hungarian grammar school has now become the ideal backdrop for all kinds of kitsch events. The late donor, after all, believed that we were "a very primitive people."
