ABOUT THE MOVIE
The term "Horror Vacui" was coined by Aristotle, and it means fear of empty space. It is used as a metaphor of the fear of the uncertain future that causes feelings of anxiety and loneliness. With its one-take sequences and free-associative editing style this meditative film sends out warning of the growing hyper-militarization of the world we live in, and what it causes to the human psyche. Due to the space and time of the events taking place in film being blurred, it can all happen everywhere at any time, in this globalized world.
Boris Poljak
Boris Poljak (Split, Croatia 1959) is one of the most prominent Croatian experimental and documentary filmmakers, an acclaimed cinematographer and director of photography. A long-time member of Split Film Club and one of the initiators of Split Film Festival – an international festival of new film and video. Since 1989, he is a professional DoP filming more than 50 short and feature films, and eight national film awards for best camera. He directed award-winning experimental titles "Beyond" (2003) and "Sky Spirits" (2010), both co-directed by Damir Čučić, and three short documentary experimental films "The Split Watercolour" (2009), "They Just Come and Go" (2107) and "Autofocus" (2013). The latter was awarded as best short film at both Karlovy Vary international film festival and Visions du Reel film festival in Nyon, Switzerland.
